Fleet Supervisor

As a crucial member of our team, you’ll be the backbone of our fleet, ensuring optimization of our fleet’s performance. The position requires supervision and direction in all functions of the automotive and equipment service shop in support of the Cooperative mission. The Fleet Supervisor is responsible for overseeing repairs and maintaining preventative maintenance on all Cooperative vehicles and equipment in a safe, cost effective and time efficient manner. Qualifications
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Three to five years of experience in automotive maintenance and repair required, two years of vocational training preferred.
- Must have advanced computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
- Must maintain a valid CDL driver’s license and be able to assist CDL trainees with preparation and final road test exam.
- Must be able to operate a fork-lift and attain certification.
- Other certifications may be required.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, reach overhead, walk, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, twist, rotate, and crawl. Lifting/carrying requirements include frequent lifting of less than 50 pounds daily, occasionally be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
- Clear auditory reception and vision abilities are essential for effective communication and task performance. You need close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to read shop manuals, schematics, and work orders.
- Passing a company required physical exam and drug screening is mandatory.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance of all Cooperative equipment and delegate and prioritize workload for the Mechanics.
- Must be able to perform both major and minor repairs on all types of vehicles and equipment and the ability to overhaul, operate, diagnose, and repair the following:
- Brakes, hydraulic standard, air brakes, power disk and drum, and parking brakes
- Transmissions, auto and manual, trans-axle, and transfer case
- Engine repair and tuning; gas and diesel
- Electrical systems; automotive systems and components
- Heating and air conditioning systems; automotive ventilation
- Hydraulic systems; assist in the removal, repair and installation of hydraulic aerial and digger units, rotary joints and gears, bearings, pumps, cylinders, oil tanks, hoses, valves, winches, and other parts.
- Maintain accurate, electronic records and/or computerized database of vehicle maintenance.
- Orders and maintains a stock of automotive and truck parts and other vehicle maintenance products.
- Shall direct and assist with snow and ice removal at Cooperative facilities whenever a threat of slips, trips or falls is present, at the discretion of Management.
- Performs daily DOT inspections of vehicles and equipment, noting all maintenance requirements ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant and road worthy.
Working Conditions:
- Works primarily in a garage environment but occasionally outdoors, often facing poor weather conditions and low visibility. Exposed to extreme temperatures ranging from below 32 degrees F to over 100 degrees F for extended periods.
- Exposure to various hazards in an automotive shop environment, including chemicals, paint fumes, vehicle exhaust, falling objects, sharp metal edges, electricity, batteries, fuels, and other dangers.
- Must have and develop sound hazard recognition skills and be able to use personal protective equipment, mechanical lifting equipment and other safety devices.

What we’re looking for:
- Associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in corporate accrual accounting is preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret budgets, general ledgers and accounting functions, and apply cooperative accounting practices and principles.
- Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must possess and demonstrate effective administrative and leadership skills.
- Understanding of double entry accrual accounting is essential, plus the ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word proficiently.
- Work is performed in a typical office setting and may involve intermittent standing, walking, sitting, bending, or crouching. May lift objects up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Passing a company required drug screening is mandatory.
What you can expect:
- Apply properly and accurately the accounting principles relating to the electric utility industry.
- Develop a unique working knowledge of the accounting requirements following the Rural Development Utilities Program (RDUP) procedures for nonprofit distribution electric cooperatives.
- Safeguard permanent accounting records in a confidential manner and in compliance with internal control policies and procedures.
- In coordination with the General Accountant, distributes vendor invoices to appropriate departments for approval, ensures processing of all accounts payable in a timely manner, and archives all check vouchers and invoices.
- Maintains fixed asset accounting of all distribution plant of the Cooperative and processes special equipment on a monthly basis.
- Responsible for all fleet related invoices, maintaining subsidiary records on all fleet equipment, and processes monthly transportation costs to the appropriate capital and expense areas.
- Charge out inventory material used, posts all inventory related invoices, and processes monthly inventory close and stores expense spread.
- Prepare inventory of work order summaries and process closing of work orders.
- Coordinates the requisition process across all Cooperative departments, solicits quotes from vendors on material purchases, prepares and remits electronic purchase order, and monitors the open purchase orders are closed when fully invoiced.
