Operation Round Up

Small change that changes livesroundup_icon

Laclede Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up® program has been helping communities and individuals since 1997. The program collects and distributes funds to local organizations and families in need throughout a six-county service area. The program also funds an annual scholarship program.

Through Operation Round Up®, a participating member’s electric bill is rounded up to the next highest dollar. For example, a member’s monthly bill of $84.73 would be rounded up to $85.00, with the additional 27 cents going to the Operation Round Up® fund. A member’s contribution is about $6 annually.

This small amount is combined with other members’ contributions that go into the Laclede Electric Trust. This program has supported a wide range of need and circumstances.

In addition, each spring Operation Round Up® makes available scholarships to graduating seniors to further their education.

The success of Operation Round Up® would not be possible without the volunteer Laclede Electric Trust Board. These nine community leaders from diverse backgrounds dedicate a great deal of time to the program. They review every application, check references and make home visits. Their dedication is demonstrated monthly as they make decisions that affect the lives of people who live in their own communities.

The generous members of Laclede Electric Cooperative should be commended for their willingness to donate “change” each month when they pay their electric bills. This small change is changing lives.
